Hardware and implementation

Please note that any brand name computers (such as IBM, HP, Compaq, DELL) can be purchased for the installation of your clinic but we strongly recommend DELL Optiplex computer with Windows XP Pro. They proved their stability and reliability. We have been using Dell computers for a long time and they largely demonstrated us their fiability.

About any computers less then 3 years old will work with Platinum System. It will be a matter of speed and stability. Windows 98 or less will make the computer freeze often or low memory error message even with plenty of memory inside. Install the newests computers for server, for the adjustment rooms and for the patient sign-in.

In order to install Platinum System in your clinic, a minimum of one month experience working in a clinic is required for your Staff members. Since there is so much to be learned about Chiropractic already and also about appointments, payment types, new patients procedures, etc. Learning about Platinum System is an important challenge, that is why you would be disappointed about the Platinum System Implementation if your Staff members were not already experienced in Chiropractic.

Components preferences:

- Intel PENTIUM processor (not Intel CELERON, AMD Athlon, AMD Duron, etc.)
- 512Mb RAM (256Mb still work, but 512Mb is much better)
- 20Gb hard drive (most of new computers has more)
- Windows XP Pro
- Choose the monitor type and size according to your preferences. Your display resolution as to be set up at 1024 x 768 minimum. (17 inches flat screen monitor will provide amazing X-Ray images!)

You will need an external hard drive (we use Maxtor, USB connection) to make your backup.

Strongly recommended:

  • DELL Optiplex computers with Windows XP Pro. They proved their stability and reliability.
  • PS/2 (no USB) Keyboard connection where a barcode reader will be connected.
  • If you have over 50 patients per day who pay on a visit basis or rarely schedule more than 2 appointments at a time, it is strongly recommended to have 2 computers at the front desk.
  • It is extremely important that all computers have the same and correct time zone setup. To setup computers time zone, double-click on the computer clock (bottom right), select TIME ZONE and adjust accordingly.
Strongly NOT recommended:
  • Transfer data from your actual software. In most software, patients information had to be entered twice or even three times. In Platinum System, this duplication is not required and is not desirable to avoid confusion. Therefore, in the Platinum System, this unnecessary duplication becomes cumbersome and cannot be deleted as no patient file can be deleted from Platinum System. Some data such as telephone numbers that were entered in your actual software has not been entered in a standard form which make it impossible to transfer in a standard telephone number field of Platinum System. If this is the case, telephone numbers are transferred in a section called “Notes” and would have to be re-entered in the proper telephone number field.

    Hundreds of chiropractors were installed successfully without old data. Some of these chiropractors adjust over 600-800 patients weekly. If you want a data transfer, only names and addresses will be transferred. To open a new file and give the chiropractic health card to your patient, it will only take 5 seconds. All other fields can be completed later. You will save so much time not filing paper health files or travel cards anymore. That time can be used for updating Platinum System with “FRESH” data.

    Some chiropractors, who asked for a data transfer, admitted after a few days using Platinum System that they should have started “FRESH”. They would like to erase a lot of patient files but this option is not available in Platinum System.

  • Wireless network installation. (20 times slower with Platinum System)
    This is crucial to have a good and professional network installation for smooth operations.

  • Wireless Keyboard and Mouse. You can lose signal occasionally, dead battery, etc. You will be very uncomfortable if it happens when 10 patients are waiting to be adjusted.
  • KODAK camera is not recommended. Almost every Digital Camera turn to be a computer drive when connected to the computer except for the KODAK brand.

    It is much more easier and faster to use a drive to download images in Platinum. Also, Platinum will delete the file automatically from the Digital Camera.

    With KODAK Camera, you will have to manually download the images in a temporary directory and import them into Platinum from that directory.

    You will also have to erase the files manually from the Digital Camera. These extra steps are time-consuming.

Platinum trainer will not set up hardware or software other than Platinum System in your office. All his/her knowledge is dedicated to implement Platinum System to create as much impact as possible on your patients and on the operation of your practice.

Never upgrade your actual Windows 98 to Windows XP Pro. This is not stable and Platinum System will freeze frequently which can seriously damage the database.

Computers that have Windows 98 operating system are too old for Platinum System.

Platinum System does not work on Windows 98, it absolutely requires Windows XP Pro.

If you use Windows 98, you will not be able to update Platinum System effective October 2003.

If we do not receive the installation sheet or your card approval 14 days prior the installation date, we will cancel your on-site implementation and re-schedule on-site trainer.
